Lena Bodewein

Lena Bodewein (born June 7, 1974 in Jülich ) is a German journalist . She is the radio correspondent for NDR in the ARD Southeast Asia studio in Singapore .

Life

Lena Bodewein trained as a local editor at the Cologne School of Journalism and studied German and English in Cologne, Hamburg and Manchester . During her studies she already wrote for the Handelsblatt , the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the Tagesspiegel and other newspapers. She volunteered at NDR and worked for NDR Info with a focus on cultural reporting. In 2008 she went to New York as an ARD correspondent for NDR and reported a. a. on United Nations policy. On April 1, 2016, ARD sent Lena Bodewein and her colleague Holger Senzel , with whom she is married, to the ARD Southeast Asia / South Pacific studio in Singapore as a radio correspondent . It is the first time that ARD has sent a couple to share a correspondent position. From Singapore they report from 14 countries.

Lena Bodewein reported in 2017 from the settlement area of ​​the Muslim Rohingya minority in Myanmar . She and her television colleagues were severely hampered in their work.

Awards

In 2007 Lena Bodewein received the third prize of the Kurt Magnus Prize endowed with 5000 euros . According to the jury, she has developed her own tone for the radiophonic feature pages and describes everyday phenomena in a light, transparent way, without being superficial. "She creates listening experiences that convince through originality and wit."
