Lena unicorn

Lena Einhorn (* 1954 ) is a Swedish doctor, documentary filmmaker and author.

Her parents were radiation therapists Jerzy and Nina Einhorn (1925–2002). Her brother Stefan (* 1955) is a doctor and author. Einhorn obtained her PhD as a tumor biologist and virologist at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. She researched tumor viruses and the question of why the development of cancer is severely inhibited in embryonic life.

From 1989 she worked in New York at Lifetime Television, initially as a medical editor, wrote medical documentaries and produced scientific and medical documentaries, also for other TV companies. From 1993 she also produced television programs for Sveriges Television , gradually switching to drama documentaries.

Literary work

Lena Einhorn's mother was of Polish origin. She told her daughter the story of her life, from her youth in Poland, the German invasion of Poland to her escape from the Warsaw ghetto . This material formed the basis for her book Nina's Journey . Her book Human Trafficking under the Swastika is about the Jewish refugee Gilel Storch , who in the middle of the war was preparing to travel from Stockholm to Berlin to negotiate with Heinrich Himmler about the rescue of Jews.

In 1997/98 Einhorn made the film Stateless, arrogant and lunatic (Handelsresande i liv). A book about the actress Siri von Essen followed in 2011 .
