Lennart Back
Lennart Back ( Torsten Lennart Back ; born May 28, 1933 in Valbo-Ryr , Munkedal municipality ) is a former Swedish walker .
At the European Championships in 1958 , Lennart Back won the bronze medal in a time of 1:35:22 hours in the 20 km walk behind Britons Stan Vickers and Leonid Spirin from the Soviet Union. Back was over two minutes behind Vickers. Two years later, Back reached sixth place in the 1960 Olympic Games in 1:37:17 hours; on Vickers, who won the bronze medal, he was again more than two minutes behind. In his third major international championship, the 1962 European Championships , he finished fifth in 1:38:16 hours, less than two minutes behind the bronze medalist, Volodymyr Holubnytschyj from the USSR.
The 1.80 meter tall back set his best performance of 1:31:13 hours in 1962. Back was Swedish champion over 10,000 m in 1960 and won four championship titles over 20 kilometers from 1961 to 1965.
