Wilfried Steuer (* 20th June 1933 in Stuttgart ) is a German politician of the CDU and former managers in the energy industry .

education and profession

From 1952, Steuer studied agricultural science and law in Hohenheim , Bonn and Tübingen . He completed his agricultural studies in 1957, the first state examination in law followed in 1960. After receiving his doctorate in agricultural science in 1962 and the second state examination in 1965, Steuer worked from 1965 to 1968 as a personal assistant to the Baden-Württemberg Minister of Agriculture, Eugen Leibfried .

Political activity

Wilfried Steuer was regional chairman of the Junge Union Nordwürttemberg from 1965 to 1968 . Within the CDU , he was counted among a group of younger modernizers, including the later Minister of State Anton Pfeifer and the later State Minister and sports official Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder . In February 1968, Steuer was elected district administrator of the then Saulgau district, a rural stronghold of the CDU, where he was credited above all for his agricultural science qualifications. In his home town of Langenenslingen , suburb of Emerfeld, Steuer has also been active as a hobby shepherd since then.

After tax refused to dissolve the Saulgau district as part of the district reform , which essentially provided for a division into the enlarged Sigmaringen and Biberach districts , he was district administrator of the Biberach district from 1973 to 1991 . Between 1982 and 1985 he was also chairman of the Danube-Iller regional association .

For the state election in 1972 , Steuer was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the first time , to which he belonged for five legislative periods until 1992. Through his direct mandate, he initially represented the Saulgau constituency , and from 1976 to the Biberach constituency .

Activity in the energy industry

From 1992 to 1997, Steuer was chairman of the board of Energie -versorgung Schwaben (EVS), in which the Upper Swabian districts had a strong impact due to their participation in the majority shareholder OEW , and after the merger of EVS with Badenwerk, he was chairman of the board of EnBW from 1997 to 1998 .

Between 1995 and 1999 was Wilfried control President of the pressure group German Atomic Forum and was regarded at that time as one of the most outspoken opponents of the nuclear phase-out . The simultaneous rejection of the eco-tax earned him the nickname atomic tax .

Wilfried Steuer is married and has two sons. He is Roman Catholic and has been a member of the Catholic student union KDSt.V. since 1954. Carolingia Hohenheim. In 2003 he called the Dr. Wilfried Steuer Foundation , which has set itself the task of promoting art and music in clubs and organizations in Riedlingen and Langenenslingen, of which he is an honorary citizen . In addition, he is on the Board of Trustees of the Vetus Latina of the Beuron Monastery , which has made it its mission to preserve the Old Latin Bible.
