Anton Pfeifer (born March 21, 1937 in Villingen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 1982 to 1991 he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Education and Science and from 1991 to 1998 Minister of State in the Federal Chancellery under Helmut Kohl .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1956 at the Eberhard-Ludwigs-Gymnasium in Stuttgart , Pfeifer completed a law degree in Tübingen and Bonn , which he finished with the first state examination in 1959 and the second in 1963 . Since 1956 he has been a member of the Catholic student association AV Guestfalia Tübingen in the Cartell Association (CV) . In 1964 he entered the service of the state of Baden-Württemberg as a judicial assessor at the Reutlingen district court and shortly thereafter was seconded to the parliamentary advisory service of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament . From 1965 to 1969 he was personal advisor to the Minister of Education of Baden-Württemberg Wilhelm Hahn .

Anton Pfeifer is married and has two children.

As a student, Pfeifer was initially involved with the Ring of Christian Democratic Students (RCDS) , of which he was chairman in Tübingen in 1957. In 1959 he also became a member of the CDU. From 1967 to 1972 he was state chairman of the Junge Union in Baden-Württemberg.

MP

From 1969 to 2002 Pfeifer was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1972 to 1982 he was chairman of the parliamentary group for education and research and a member of the board of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group . He has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Reutlingen constituency .

Public offices

After Helmut Kohl was elected Federal Chancellor , Pfeifer was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Science in the Federal Government on October 4, 1982 . After the federal elections in 1987 , he worked from March 12, 1987 in the same position at the Federal Minister for Youth, Family, Women and Health . After the Bundestag election in 1990 , he was finally appointed Minister of State to the Chancellor on January 24, 1991 and then left the Federal Government on October 26, 1998 after the 1998 Bundestag election .

Pfeifer works on a voluntary basis as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Federation (IB) in Frankfurt am Main, Deputy. Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in St. Augustin (1989–2009), the “House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany” foundation in Bonn and honorary chairman of the Rottenburg Evening Real School, a state-recognized substitute school in Rottenburg am Neckar.
