Heiko Schmid

Heiko Schmid (* 1959 ) is a German diploma administrative scientist, Doctor of Social Sciences and politician ( CDU ) and full-time district administrator of the district Biberach .

education and profession

Heiko Schmid attended the Kirchgraben primary school in Ebingen until 1969 and graduated from high school in Ebingen in 1978. From 1978 to 1980 he completed an apprenticeship as a banker .

This was followed by basic social science studies at the University of Konstanz . From 1982 he worked for the municipal development of Baden-Württemberg GmbH and planned local public transport there. After studying administrative science at the University of Konstanz with a focus on “State Control”, he was a trainee lawyer for the higher general administrative service of the state of Baden-Württemberg from 1986 to 1989.

After completing his doctorate in social sciences at the University of Konstanz and taking the state examination in 1989, Schmid headed the Central Administration Department at the Sigmaringen district office from 1989 to 1991 . In 1992 he became head of the minister's office and personal assistant to the minister at the time at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior in Stuttgart, before moving to the Baden-Württemberg Management Academy in Karlsruhe and doing internships in business and foreign administration ( Santa Barbara , California ).

Political career

Then he followed in the footsteps of his father, who was mayor in Ebingen , and applied for the office of mayor of the city of Pfullendorf . On November 28, 1993 Schmid was elected in the first ballot with 81.2 percent of the vote. During his term of office, the parliamentary group chairman of the Free Voters in the Sigmaringer district council, as well as the post as a deputy member of the administrative board of the community examination institute Baden-Württemberg (GPA) fall.

In Pfullendorf he was confirmed in office as mayor on November 4, 2001 with 95.8 percent without any serious opponents. In the same month, on November 21, 2001, he refused the SPD in Freiburg to run as a candidate in the upcoming mayoral elections. Schmid ran for the office of district administrator in the Heidenheim district on October 1, 2003 , but withdrew his candidacy after a week, on October 8, 2003.

On November 12, 2004, he presented himself to the Reutlingen district council, but did not submit his written candidacy for the same office in the Reutlingen district because he had not succeeded in gaining a majority in the Free Voters faction.

On June 30, 2006, Schmid was elected district administrator by the district council of the Biberach district with 31 out of 60 votes and took up his position on October 1, 2006. He has succeeded Peter Schneider , who moved to Stuttgart as President of the Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg (SVBW).

On June 11, 2014, he was confirmed in this office by the district council in the third ballot with 31 of 58 votes and was able to prevail against the first regional official of the Zollernalb district Matthias Frankenberg.

He is chairman of the supervisory board of Kliniken Landkreis Biberach GmbH and Öchsle-Bahn AG . He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of LBBW Immobilien GmbH , a subsidiary of Landesbank Baden-Württemberg , and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kreissparkasse Biberach .

Heiko Schmid is a Protestant, married and has four children.
