Lennep Trinity Lutheran Church

The Trinity Lutheran Church is a Lutheran parish church in Lennep ( Meagher County ) in the US state of Montana .

history

After Melville Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran is the second oldest Lutheran church founded in Montana in the 19th century. On January 10, 1891, Lutherans immigrated from Norway , who were active in the vicinity of the Castle Mountains in Meagher County, met in the Robinson silver mine camp to form a Lutheran congregation. On February 8, 1891, the congregation was officially named Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Trinity Congregation of Meagher County, Montana . Church services were initially held irregularly in schools and private homes. In 1900 the municipality got its permanent seat in Lennep, which is named after the German town of Lennep in today's North Rhine-Westphalia. The connection between Lennep and the Montana Railroad in the area of the Musselshell River was decisive for the choice of location . With the Trinity Lutheran Church, a separate church building was finally consecrated in 1914. The construction cost was $ 4,300. The church is now part of the Upper Musselshell Lutheran Parish parish , which is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America .
