Lennox Sharpe
Lennox "Boogsie" Sharpe (born October 28, 1953 in Port of Spain ) is a Trinidadian composer, arranger and steel pan musician.
Life
Lennox Sharpe grew up in Woodbrook, a district of Port of Spain. He played in the Invaders Steel Orchestra, later in the steel band Starlift. In 1972 he founded the steel band Phase II Pan Groove , which is considered one of the best steel bands in Trinidad.
In 1987 he was awarded the Hummingbird Medal in silver. He also received an honorary doctorate from the University of the West Indies . In addition, Sharpe has been the official cultural ambassador of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago since 2000 .
