The Lenzspitze (formerly also called Südlenz ) is at an altitude of 4294 m above sea level. M. a four-thousand-meter peak in the Mischabel group in the Valais Alps .
The first ascent took place in 1870 by Clinton Thomas Dent with his guides Alexander and Franz Burgener via the now no longer used path through the northeast flank to the Nadeljoch and over the northwest ridge to the summit.
The north-east climb was started for the first time on August 3, 1882 by the British William Woodman Graham with the guides Theodor Andenmatten and Ambros Supersaxo (IV-, places III, otherwise II; AD), today a normal climb from the Mischabelhütte . The south ridge from the Domhütte via the Lenzjoch (II) is easier.
The Lenzspitze is the starting point or also the end point of the ascent of the entire Nadelgrat , its northwest ridge (III) conveys the first piece to the Nadelhorn .
The showpiece of the Lenzspitze, however, is the northeast flank, an ice wall with an even slope of 50 to 55 °. It was first ascended on July 7, 1911 by Dietrich von Bethmann-Hollweg with the guides Oskar and Othmar Supersaxo by stepping and was given the nickname “Dreieselwand” because of the drag.
