Leo Ernesti (born September 3, 1925 in Paderborn , † November 19, 1996 in Bad Driburg ) was a German officer and politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending primary school, Ernesti was briefly arrested by the Gestapo in 1942 for illegal youth work . In 1943 he joined the NSDAP ( membership number 9,468,496). From 1943 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He was deployed as a lieutenant and company commander, most recently seriously wounded.

After the end of the war, Ernesti embarked on a career as a civil servant and was initially head of a radio station at the Deutsche Bundespost . In 1957 he switched to the service of the Bundeswehr . Here he was a training and teaching officer in the Air Force , assistant officer in the command staff and head of a staff company at the troop command. Since 1963 he worked as an assistant in the ministerial office of the Federal Ministry of Defense . In 1966 he briefly took over the management of the ministerial office of the Federal Ministry for Expellees, Refugees and War Victims . Most recently he was appointed Colonel of the Reserve.

Ernesti joined the Junge Union (JU) in 1949 and was elected chairman of the JU Ostwestfalen -Lippe. Since 1951 he was a member of the CDU.

Ernesti was a council member of the city ​​of Paderborn . He belonged to the German Bundestag from March 9, 1967, when he moved up for the deceased MP Heinrich Wilper via the CDU's state list in North Rhine-Westphalia , until 1980. From 1972 to 1980 he represented the Höxter constituency in parliament .

In 1980 he was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany.
