Leo Eysoldt

Leo Eysoldt (* 1891 in Aachen ; † 1967 ) was a German pianist , conductor , composer and arranger in the field of light music .

Life

He was the son of the actor couple Gertrud Eysoldt and Max Martersteig . His half-brother was the actor and screenwriter Peter Berneis . In 1929 he married the singer Maria Dahmen (1903–1979) from Euskirchen in Cologne. The marriage later ended in divorce.

Eysoldt led a 20-member salon orchestra in the “Café Germania” in Cologne , which was one of the best entertainment orchestras in the city and with which he was engaged as an orchestra for high-quality light music by Westdeutscher Rundfunk at the Reichssender Köln in 1927 . The "Leo Eysoldt Orchestra" existed until 1942 when it was dissolved during the war. In 1949, Eysoldt switched to the Nuremberg Radio House of Bavarian Radio without his orchestra .
