Leo Kerwer

Leo Kerwer (born October 1, 1933 in Besseringen ; † November 29, 2012 ) was a German lawyer and ministerial official .

Life

After attending school, Kerwer studied law at Saarland University from 1954 to 1958 . In 1958 he passed the first state examination and in 1962 the second state examination. He then entered the higher administrative service of the Saarland as a civil servant . From 1962 to 1964 he was head of department in the Ministry of Culture . In 1964 he became a member of the CDU , for which he was committed in his hometown of Merzig .

Kerwer was head of the legal and cabinet department in the State Chancellery from 1964 to 1966 and head of the HR office of Prime Minister Franz-Josef Röder from 1966 to 1978 . On August 1, 1978, he was appointed State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery. He continued to head the State Chancellery after the death of the Prime Minister under his successor Werner Zeyer until April 11, 1985.

Leo Kerwer was married and had two children.
