Leo Thompson
Leo Thompson (* around 1908; † November 1987 in Wraysbury ( Staines )) was an English table tennis national player , trainer and official.
Career
Leo Thompson was nominated in 1948 and 1954 for participation in the individual competitions for the world championships, but did not come close to medal ranks. At the English Open he won the veteran tournament in 1950/51.
He invested more energy in coaching young people. His most prominent protégé was the English national player Jill Hammersley . He also took on responsibility as a functionary. In 1948 he founded the Buckinghamshire Bucks TTA table tennis association , where he was president from 1985 until his death.
In addition to table tennis, he also played football, badminton, tennis and squash.
In 1987 he died of a heart attack.
