Leodegar Petrin

Leodegar Petrin (born September 22, 1877 in Ainbach, † September 29, 1965 in Vienna ) was a top Austrian civil servant and president of the Federal Monuments Office and the Central Office for Monument Protection.

Life

Leodegar Petrin graduated from the Theresian Academy in Vienna. In the years 1897/98 he served as a one-year volunteer with the Albrecht Prince of Prussia Dragoon Regiment No. 6 . In 1900 Petrin married. He studied law at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in law in 1902 .

In October 1900 Petrin entered the service of the Provincial Government of Carinthia as a concept intern . In 1905 he was appointed to the Ministry of Education as a district commissioner . From 1917 to 1911 he was assigned to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers , after which he served again in the Ministry of Education.

During the First World War he did military service as an orderly officer , from 1917 he was assigned to the political section in the Army Ministry. His rank was Rittmeister in the reserve.

In November 1918 Petrin was accepted into the service of the republic as a section council and in 1920 was appointed ministerial councilor. In 1923 he became head of the art department in the Ministry of Education. On July 2, 1931, he was appointed President of the Federal Monuments Office (from 1934: Central Office for Monument Protection ). On January 1, 1937, he was appointed section head . After Austria's "annexation" to the Nazi state , Petrin retired in July 1938.

Petrin was the author of several papers on administrative law.
