Leon Tafirenyika (born February 24, 1999 ) is a Zimbabwean sprinter .

Athletic career

Leon Tafirenyika gained his first international experience in 2015 at the African Youth Championships in Réduit , where he finished fourth in the 400-meter run in 49.51 s. In 2018 he was eliminated from the U20 World Championships in Tampere with 47.55 s in the first round and did not reach the final with the Zimbabwean 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 09.68 min. He then retired from the African Championships in Asaba with 48.13 s in the lead and came in fourth with the 4 x 100 meter relay in 39.37 s. In 2019 he reached the semifinals at the Summer Universiade in Naples over 400 meters, in which he was eliminated with 47.32 s. Even in the 200-meter run , he made it to the semifinals, but could not finish his run there. He then retired at the African Games in Rabat with 47.73 s in the preliminary round and finished eighth in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 12.41 min.
