Leon Wouters

Leo "Leon" Wouters (born June 18, 1930 in Wechelderzande , today Lille , † March 27, 2015 in Rijkevorsel ) was a Belgian football player and coach.

Athletic career

Wouters grew up in Lille, Belgium , and initially played for the suburban club KFC De Vrede Wechelderzande , before moving to the First Division at Royal Antwerp in 1951 . From the transfer fee, his home club bought a plot of land over a hectare in size, on which the club then settled permanently. The left winger ran for his new club until 1964, as highlights included winning the championship title in the 1956/57 season and the success in the national cup two years earlier, when KSV clearly defeated THOR Waterschei in the final with a 4-0 win had been.

After the end of his active career, Wouters also worked as a trainer at times. Between 1969 and 1972 he looked after Black Lion Rijckevorsel .
