The Leonardo da Vinci Bridge is a modern pedestrian bridge over the E18 in the municipality of Ås , Viken province , about 35 kilometers south of Oslo .

The bridge was built in 2001 through an initiative by the Norwegian artist Vebjørn Sand ; based on plans by the Italian Renaissance artist and inventor Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519).

Leonardo da Vinci had proposed the construction to Sultan Bayezid II in 1502 for crossing the Golden Horn . The current bridge was built on a reduced scale.
