Leonardo Ferrulli

Leonardo Ferrulli (born January 1, 1918 in Brindisi ; † July 5, 1943 over Sicily ) was one of the most successful Italian fighter pilots of World War II . He was confirmed 22 personal victories in the air and others were "collectivized" (i.e. awarded to his unit) according to the practice of the Italian Air Force .

Life

Ferrulli joined the Regia Aeronautica in 1935 and completed pilot training. In 1936, he came as a sergeant to 4 ° Stormo , a fighter squadron. From February 1937 he fought on the side of the nationalists in the Spanish Civil War . During the Second World War he and his 4th Squadron were deployed mainly over Malta , North Africa and then over Sicily, where he fell in the fierce fighting against the Allied forces.
