The Leonardo da Vinci Campus (LDVC) is a private school sponsored by the Free Gymnasium Nauen gGmbH and is located in Nauen ( Brandenburg ). The school was founded in 1995 and includes an international all-day high school, a comprehensive school, a creativity and all-day elementary school, a boarding school , a day-care center and an after-school care center .

The catchment area of ​​the school is Berlin and Brandenburg, but the affiliated boarding school enables students outside of these federal states to attend school. A monthly income-related school fee is payable for attending school.

School and teaching principle

The Leonardo da Vinci campus is an all-day school . The core lesson time is from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The lessons are held in double lessons of 90 minutes. There are breaks of between 10 and 45 minutes between the lesson blocks. During the lunch break there is the possibility to eat in the cafeteria and also to take part in voluntary working groups or in remedial classes. Music, theater and sports working groups (AGs) can be visited outside of school hours .

The possibility of attending grammar school from the fifth grade onwards is provided by the language special classes , in which the students are taught bilingually in some subjects . These students have the option of taking parts of the Abitur in English.

In addition to and in class, there is vocational preparation through several company internships between the eighth and 12th grades and regular career information evenings.

history

On June 4, 1994 the association Die Neue Schule Nauen e. V. founded by eight founding members. The aim of the association was to set up and open the Free Gymnasium in Nauen. On November 4, 1995 the Free Gymnasium Nauen was opened with 40 students in grades 7, 8 and 9 and five teachers after the first building was built. In 1996, the state recognition of lower secondary level followed and the number of students doubled. In 1997 the upper secondary level opened. The topping-out ceremony for the second building took place in 1998 and the boarding school opened in 1999.

In 2000, the first Abitur were awarded after the school received state recognition as a grammar school. The creativity elementary school was opened in 2002 and moved into the newly built third building in February 2003. Since 2004 the Freie Gymnasium Nauen has been a member of the Club of Rome and the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband . In 2005 a fourth building was built and the name was uniformly changed to the Leonardo da Vinci campus. In 2006 the second boarding school was opened. In 2007, the school acquired an empty car dealership and converted it into a cafeteria, which opened in January 2008.

Today the campus consists of a primary school, high school and grammar school. These are supplemented by the after-school care center, kindergarten and boarding school.

Awards

The Leonardo da Vinci Campus School was selected by the Robert Bosch Foundation as one of the 20 best schools in Germany for 2018.
