Leonas Vaidotas Ašmantas

Leonas Vaidotas Ašmantas (born January 1, 1939 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian industrial engineer and inventor, professor of energy science and the former Lithuanian energy minister.

Life

Leonas Vaidotas Ašmantas graduated from the "Žiburys" high school in Prienai in 1956 and studied nuclear energy at the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (today KTU ). From 1958 to 1962 he studied at the Moscow Energy Institute and became an industrial engineer for nuclear energy. He then worked as a research assistant at the Lithuanian Economic Energy Institute in Kaunas and was the head of the laboratory. In 1976 he received his doctorate in engineering. and in 1987 completed his habilitation in Minsk . In 1991 he became a professor and member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. From March 26, 1990 to November 19, 1996, he was Lithuania's Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy. He has been a professor since 1991 (currently at Gediminas-TU Vilnius). From 2000 to 2002 he was a member of the Birštonas Municipality Council .

Leonas Vaidotas Ašmantas is married to Vida Laukevičiūtė (comes from Birštonas ), they have two daughters (* 1964 and * 1974).
