Lithuania on the Nemunas . It belongs to the Kaunas district . A few kilometers away is the Birštonas spa town . The river arch of the Nemunas, on which both cities lie, and the enclosed peninsula have been declared a regional park. The city has a court, a library and some sports aviation companies (for the construction of light aircraft etc.) as it is not far from the Pociūnai airfield.
Prienai (German Prenn or Prenen , Polish Preny ) is a city and administrative seat of the Rajongemeinde of the same name in the center ofhistory
The place was first mentioned in 1502 in a deed of donation. In 1609 Prienai was granted city rights.
Since 2008 Prienai has been a member of the Douzelage city association .
