Jieznas is a town of 1,300 inhabitants in the Prienai district , 15 kilometers east of Prienai , Lithuania . The place is the center of the district Jieznas (founded 1995), which has three subdistricts ( seniūnaitija ): Centro, Mokyklos, Vilniaus. Jieznas Lake lies south of the village, and the Jieznelė River flows near the village .
There is the Catholic Church of Archangel Michael and John the Baptist , built in 1670 , the Jieznas manor , a grammar school founded in 1793 with 448 students, a post office and a military cemetery.
