Leonhard Lipka

Leonhard Lipka , also Len Lipka , (born June 12, 1938 in Jägerndorf ; † January 14, 2019 ) was a German linguist .

Lipka was considered one of the most important representatives of Hans Marchand , who influenced Lipka in Tübingen and was part of the Tübingen linguistic school in the 1960s . Lipka was Professor of English Linguistics in Frankfurt a. M. and Professor of English Philology at the LMU Munich , where he also held the position of dean from 1995 to 1997 . He published mainly in the fields of semantics and lexicology . In 2003 he retired .

In addition to several linguistic publications in the field of English lexicology, he was best known for his study book on the same topic.
