St. Leonhard Chapel

The St. Leonhard Chapel (or Leonhard's Chapel ) is a church building of the Roman Catholic Church in Munich . It is dedicated to Saint Leonard of Limoges . The chapel is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.

description

The St. Leonhard Chapel is located in Kleinhadern in the Hadern district at the end of Großhaderner Straße just before the A96 in the immediate vicinity of the Stürzerhof . This is why it is also known as the “Stürzerkapelle”. The center of Kleinhadern was originally located here. The parish church of St. Peter is about 1 km further south in Großhadern, in Kleinhadern there was only ever a small chapel as a prayer room. The current chapel was built in 1894/95 in place of a previous building.

The chapel is a 6 m long saddle roof building with an apse running in a west-east direction . A triangular gable with a round window sits above the windowless west facade with the arched entrance door . The side walls with the arched windows are structured by pilaster strips . On the west side of the roof there is a roof turret with an onion hood .

Together with the Stürzerhof, which is also listed, the Leonhard Chapel is the last remaining remnant of the former village development in the center of Kleinhadern.
