Leonid Nikolajewitsch Agutin ( Russian Леони́д Никола́евич Агу́тин ; born July 16, 1968 in Moscow ) is a Russian singer and musician. His music style is Russian pop music with jazz and Latin American elements. To date, he has sold over 10 million albums.

biography

Leonid Agutin was born on July 16, 1968 in Moscow. His father Nikolai Petrovich Agutin was also a singer, his mother a primary school teacher. During his youth, Agutin played the piano and graduated from the Moscow Jazz School Moskvoretschje ( Москворечье ). After his military service, he enrolled at the Moscow State University of Culture and Art ( Московский государственный университет культуры и искусств ) and graduated from there in 1992. He has toured the USSR since 1989 , was the opening act for several Russian bands and wrote songs for other artists. Agutin worked in the Salem Studios in Tver since 1991 , where he recorded the song Bossonogi maltschik ( Босоногий мальчик , German barefoot boy ). The barefoot appearance on stage was also his trademark as a musician at that time. In 1992 he received the international Yalta 92 award and in 1993 the Urmala 93 award . In 1994 he released his debut album Bossonogi maltschik , which was very successful and earned him nominations for Best Artist of the Year , Best Album of the Year and Best Song of the Year . Since 1996 he has been touring the USA regularly, where he also recorded the album Cosmopolitan Life with guitarist Al Di Meola as a singer . Agutin is married to the singer Anschelika Why.

On December 30, 2008, Agutin received the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation from President Dmitry Medvedev ( Заслуженный артист Российской Федерации ).
