Leonore Ehn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leonore Ehn (born October 8, 1888 in Langenlois , Austria , † June 23, 1978 in Berlin ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

Leonore Ehn dedicated himself to acting at an early age. In 1910 she came to Berlin at the Schiller Theater , where she achieved great success alongside well-known colleagues here and on other stages in the city until the establishment of the Nazi regime .

Hans von Zedlitz , her husband, also an actor, was defamed and marginalized after 1933 because of his Jewish origins. In 1935 she emigrated with him and their two children, first to Austria , then to the Soviet Union . After the Hitler-Stalin Pact , her husband was arrested by the Soviet authorities.

One after the other both managed to get back to Germany, where Hans von Zedlitz was arrested again. While her husband was able to leave the country shortly before the outbreak of war (he died in Switzerland in 1948 ), she stayed in Germany because of her son, Gerd von Zedlitz (1923–1945), child actor in film. For Ehn, the artistic work was over for the time being - with the exception of one tour. After 1950, Ehn withdrew from theater life after a series of failed attempts to get engagements.
