Leopold Figl Control Center
The Leopold-Figl-Warte is a lookout tower on the 494 m high Tulbinger Kogel northwest of the village Tulbingerkogel in the municipality of Tulbing in Lower Austria . It is located on the Pre-Alps long-distance hiking trail and on the Great Tullnerfeld circular hiking trail .
The control room named after Leopold Figl was built in 1966/67 according to a design by Clemens Holzmeister using reinforced concrete and can be reached from Berghotel Tulbingerkogel in ten minutes on foot. On a clear day you can look north over the Tullnerfeld to the Weinviertel . The south view is severely restricted by tall trees.
At the expense of the Austrian Mountain Association , a control room was built at this location as early as 1897, the top platform of which (at least in 1906) offered a wonderful panoramic view . This control room on the Tulbingerkogel had replaced an old observation frame.
