Tulbingerkogel is a village in the Lower Austrian market town of Tulbing .

Location and traffic

The place Tulbingerkogel has the same name as the hill, on whose southeast flank 128 houses nestle. The Tulbinger Kogel is located on the northwestern edge of the Vienna Woods. At 494 m, the mountain named after Tulbing is the highest elevation in the Tulln district and the entire north-western edge of the Tullnerfeld. The Leopold-Figl-Warte sits enthroned on its "summit" and offers a wide view of the Tullnerfeld. A comprehensive view of around 300 mountains in the Eastern Alps, including Ötscher , Schneeberg and Großer Priel , is possible from the summit.

The village of Tulbingerkogel is integrated into public transport via bus line 449. Buses 249 and 250 run every half hour between Mauerbach (5 km away) and Vienna / Hütteldorf.

The district capital Tulln on the Danube is approx. 15 km away. The Vienna city limits (14th district - Penzing ) are 8 km away.

About 15 km to the southeast is Hütteldorf, a district of the federal capital, which is characterized by its good transport connections. There are various bus lines to the outskirts of Vienna and suburbs as well as the S45 rapid transit line , which leads to the north of Vienna. The Vienna subway network , which begins in the west with the Hütteldorf U4 station , enables destinations within the city to be reached quickly.

history

  • Probably the location of Roman beacons
  • First settlement by forest workers and later also by quarry workers
  • In 1529 (the first Turkish siege of Vienna ), the residents of Tulbing hid in the Jammertal on the Tulbingerkogel; a crowing cock betrayed their hiding place and all were killed
  • In 1880–1890, the first residential houses were built for the summer vacation
  • At the current location of the Berghotel Tulbingerkogel, from 1880 a forester's house gradually turned into an inn
  • In 1930 a luxury hotel was built on the same site (by the standards of the time). There were eight rooms with private showers and all rooms were individually heated from the corridor
  • In 1998 the first international sommelier vineyard was opened as part of the sommelier world championship in Vienna
