Leopold Bucher
Leopold Bucher (born October 24, 1797 in Schwechat , † July 15, 1877 in Vienna ) was an Austrian portrait and history painter.
Life
Leopold Bucher was born in Schwechat as the son of Andreas Bucher and Franziska Knirsch. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and from 1817 at the Raffaelis Mosaic School in Milan . His works took part in the Vienna Academy exhibitions in 1834, 1835, 1838 and 1850.
Bucher died unmarried in his apartment in Vienna of old age and was buried in the central cemetery.
Works
Two of his pictures were dedicated to Emperor Ferdinand I : “Ferdinand V's coronation as King of Hungary and Croatia” and “Archduke Ferdinand's marriage to Princess Maria Anna of Savoy”.
The work "Coronation of Empress Karoline Auguste" is exhibited in the Franzensburg .
