Leopold Decloedt

Leopold RG Decloedt (born May 10, 1964 in Ostend ) is a Germanist and entrepreneur living in Austria .

Life

Leopold Roger Gustaaf Decloedt grew up in Gistel . He studied German with Gilbert AR De Smet and Edward Verhofstadt at the University of Ghent . In 1992 he received his doctorate with a doctoral thesis on the image of Emperor Franz Joseph I in Austrian literature in the interwar period . Subsequently, Decloedt worked as a lecturer at the University of Vienna and the University of Brno .

Decloedt has written numerous books and articles on Austrian literature. His main focus was on the literature of the interwar period and on the literary relations between the Netherlands and Flanders on the one hand and Austria on the other. He is Associate Editor of the Interactions series . Austrian literature in an international context .

As a part-time job, he worked as a freelance translator for many years. Since 2007 Decloedt has been managing director of the Austrian translation agency "Connect-Sprachenservice GmbH", based in Vienna, and the translation agency Connect-Sprachenservice Regensburg GmbH, based in Regensburg.
