Leopold Jelinek

Leopold Jelinek (born January 3, 1897 in Vienna ; † July 1, 1943 there ) was an Austrian winder and resistance fighter against the Nazi regime . He was sentenced to death by the Nazi judiciary and beheaded in the Vienna Regional Court .

Life

Jelinek was a winder at Siemens-Schuckertwerke in Vienna and worked in a cell for the KPÖ . He was arrested, sentenced to death by the People's Court on February 17, 1943 for “preparation for high treason ” and executed with the guillotine on July 1 of the same year .

His body was exhumed in 1971 and buried in the Groß-Jedlersdorfer cemetery .

Commemoration

His name can be found on the plaque in the former execution room of the Vienna Regional Court . There his name is written Leopold Jellinek .
