Leopold Schindler

Leopold Schindler (born April 26, 1950 in Coburg ) is a German choir director , church musician and music teacher . In addition to teaching at the Albertinum grammar school , he was director of the Coburg Sängerkranz e. V. In 1997 he founded the Chamber Choir at the Albertinum (since 2009 independent as the Chamber Choir Coburg ), of which he was director until 2013.

Life

After leaving school, Schindler first trained as a businessman. Due to his love of music - he took piano lessons from the age of 10 - he then began studying church music, initially (1969–1972) at the College of Church Music in Bayreuth (now the University of Protestant Church Music in Bayreuth ), where he received the B. -Exam as a student of KMD Viktor Lukas passed . From 1972 to 1974 he switched to the church music school in Esslingen (today Evangelical University for Church Music Tübingen ), where he took the A-exam. As the best of the year he was offered training as a concert pianist, which he turned down, however, in order to return to Coburg.

In 1974/75 he was a year trainee at the Church of St. Moriz in Coburg under KMD Walter and from 1975 to 1980 cantor at the church of Heilig Kreuz and from 1976 at the same time district cantor in the Michelau dean's office . The reform of the Protestant Church in 1980 made it necessary for him to accept an open position as a music teacher at the Albertinum grammar school in Coburg. He worked there until the end of the 2009/2010 school year as a teacher for organ and piano as well as music theory.

For his services, Schindler u. a. awarded the Badge of Honor of the Bavarian Prime Minister .
