Leopold Zuntz (* 24. August 1813 in Frankfurt am Main ; † 13. June 1874 in Bonn ) founded in 1837 with his mother Rachel Zuntz the coffee company A. Life

Leopold Zuntz came from the marriage of Amschel (Ascher) Herz Zuntz (1778-1814), who lived in Frankfurt, and his wife Rachel Zuntz, née Hess, and grew up in Frankfurt am Main until 1817, after which he returned to Bonn with his mother.

He received his training from 1827 in the business of his grandfather, the coffee and grocer's dealer Nathan David Hess. After the death of his mother, he took over the company and trained his second son, Albert Zuntz (1849–1881), who continued the business after his father's death in 1874 and opened a branch in Berlin in 1879 .

Leopold Zuntz married Julia Katzenstein (1822–1872) from Kassel in 1846 , with whom he had five sons and six daughters, of whom the last twins born in 1863 were Richard Zuntz (1863–1910) and Mathilde Zuntz. His firstborn son was the physiologist Nathan Zuntz .
