The Leppinsee is southeast of the Müritz in the Mecklenburg Lake District lying lake in the district of Mecklenburg Lake District , Mecklenburg-Vorpommern . It is located in the east of the municipality of Rechlin on the border with the city of Mirow . Their district of Schillersdorf is located near the lake. It is a typical channel lake with a length of 2,200 m and a width of 300 m. The lake borders the Müritz National Park . The banks are completely wooded except for a narrow point on the northeast side, to the west of the lake is the forest area of the Leppiner Heide and the Leppin desert , which gave the lake its name. The lake is surrounded by an almost continuous belt of reeds. It is closed to motorboat traffic and is located on a popular water hiking route that leads via Mirow to Müritz.
