Leroy Robertson

Leroy Robertson (born December 21, 1896 in Fountain Green , Utah , † July 25, 1971 in Salt Lake City , Utah) was an American composer .

Robertson was a student of George Whitefield Chadwick , Ernest Bloch and Hugo Leichtentritt . From 1925 he taught at Brigham Young University , from 1948 to 1962 at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

He composed two symphonies , several overtures , preludes, scherzo and ricercare and a passacaglia for orchestra, a violin and a cello concerto, two piano concertos, chamber music works, piano and organ pieces, the oratorio From the Book of Mormon , which is considered to be his main work, as well as choral pieces and songs for the Mormon community .
