Les Crosets
Les Crosets is a hamlet and holiday village / ski station in the municipality of Val-d'Illiez in the south-western part of the canton of Valais ( Switzerland ).
Location, population
Les Crosets lies at an average altitude of 1668 m. ü. M. on a mountain flank (sunny slope) between Champéry and Morgins in the middle of the Portes du Soleil ski area . Politically, it belongs to Val-d'Illiez , but due to the great distance to this place nine kilometers away and far down in the valley floor, it is to be regarded as independent.
Around 60 people live in Les Crosets all year round and a disproportionately larger number of tourists during the season (around 650 beds in hotels and group accommodations). The local population lives almost exclusively from tourism.
tourism
In winter, Les Crosets offers the usual winter sports ( alpine skiing (specialty: steep slope Chavanette ), snowboard and tobogganing ), in summer hiking , mountain biking and fishing on Lac Vert. There is also an animal park. Within a short time - in summer and winter - France can be reached on foot via the Pointe des Mossettes (2277 m above sea level). The usual tourist infrastructure (restaurants, hotels, sports shops, ski school) is available.
traffic
The hamlet can be reached by car from Val-d'Illiez on a rather small, winding road. Every two hours a post bus connects Les Crosets with Val-d'Illiez (journey time 20-30 minutes).
Personalities
Les Crosets is closely associated with the name of the former Swiss ski racer Corinne Rey-Bellet , who was born and raised here. She was also violently killed in Les Crosets .
