Menhirs Les Pierres Jumelles by Olonne-sur-Mer

The menhirs Les Pierres Jumelles ( German  "twin stones" ; and menhirs of Pierre-Levée ) are east of Olonne-sur-Mer , opposite the Château de Pierre Levée , (locally called "Petit Trianon de Vendée") in the Vendée in France .

Other stones with this designation are common in France (e.g. in Cambrai ). Similar in size, however, are only the three-meter-high Les Pierres Jumelles , about nine meters apart , two monoliths near the hamlet of Écoivres in Mont-Saint-Éloi in the Pas-de-Calais department , with which legends are also associated.

The twin stones of Olonne-sur-Mer are about six meters apart on either side of a street at the Château de Pierre Levée. The stones are about four meters high. One is a rounded block of pink granite , the other is a pointed curved gray stone. Lichen grows on both menhirs . The menhirs have been classified as a monument historique since 1982

The Menhir de la Conche-Verte (two meters high) and the Pierre de Beauregard are also in Olonne-sur-Mer.
