Les Dissonances (Eng. "The Dissonances") is a European orchestra that plays classical music . It was founded in 2004 by the French violinist David Grimal . It consists of French and other European musicians: internationally known soloists, renowned orchestral musicians and young musicians.

Since 2008, the Dijon Opera House has been the home of les Dissonances .

presentation

The ensemble was founded in 2004 on the initiative of David Grimal.

The orchestra interprets works from the symphonic repertoire and dispenses with a conductor. It has a great deal of freedom of interpretation from case to case.

The repertoire includes classical works ( Mozart , Beethoven , Schubert , Brahms , Vivaldi ) and extends to modern and contemporary compositions ( Schönberg , Dutilleux , Ligeti ...).

In the quartet Les Dissonances, David Grimal (violin), Hans Peter Hofmann (violin), David Gaillard (viola), Xavier Phillips (violoncello) play.

Les Dissonances also work on educational projects such as educational concerts, public rehearsals and the so-called P'titssonances workshops in schools. The aim is to sensitize and inspire young people for classical music.

L'Autre season

L'Autre Saison is an artistic game season for the benefit of the homeless in the Église Saint-Leu church in Paris . Once a month, Les Dissonances invites artists from all areas (musicians, singers, dancers, storytellers, comedians, ...) to play free of charge to support people in difficult life situations. All proceeds from the concert go to the Les '' Margéniaux '' association, which accompanies and finances emergency aid work and medium-term projects selected by socio-political actors.

Venue and sponsor

Les Dissonances are supported by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication . The ensemble is a member of FEVIS; it has had its home venue at the Opera in Dijon since 2008 and is a regular guest at the Cité de la musique in Paris, the Volcan in Havre and the Onde in Vélizy .
