Lesley Bell

Lesley Bell (* around 1947) is a former English table tennis player . She took part in two world championships and three European championships in the 1960s . In 1964 she became European champion with the women's team.

Career

Lesley Bell's mother Brenda was an active table tennis player who won several national titles. Lesley Bell recorded her first international successes in 1963 at the European Youth Championship in Duisburg in 1963, where she won both individually and with the team. However, the world association ITTF did not recognize this tournament as official, as East German athletes were not allowed to enter.

In 1962 she first took part in a European championship for adults. Until then, at 15 years of age, she was the youngest British athlete at a European Championship. In this tournament she reached second place behind Germany with the team, in 1964 she became European champion in the women's team competition. At the World Championships she came in fifth with the English team in 1963 and third in 1965 .

Private

In the mid-1960s, Lesley married Bell and then performed under the name Lesley Radford . Her daughter Linda also plays table tennis.
