history

In 1956 the Leuchter-Verlag was initially founded as one of the so-called federal works of the Federation of Free Church Pentecostal communities . In 1966 the publisher published the German translation of the Christian literary classic Das Kreuz und die Messerhelden by David Wilkerson . In 1971 the 11th edition of the book reached a total German circulation of 100,000 copies within five years, making it the most successful title in publishing history. Other authors of the publishing house include Tim LaHaye and Jost Müller-Bohn .

In addition to print media, the publishing house also began producing records under the label Evangeliumsklänge . Singers such as Wolfgang Blissenbach , Gerhard Klemm , Richard Gastmann and formations such as the Herolds Quartet released successful singles and LPs here and in the subsequent label Sela throughout the German-speaking area and contributed a large part to the company's heyday in the 1970s.

The publisher was renamed Leuchter Edition in its final years . On June 30th, 2009 the Leuchter Edition ceased operations due to economic difficulties and a significant drop in orders.
