Gerhard Klemm

Gerhard Klemm (born June 12, 1928 ; † 2011 ) was a German clergyman and pastor in the Bund Freikirchlicher Pfingstgemeinden as well as a musician , singer and songwriter .

Life

Gerhard Klemm was born in East Prussia as the last of eight children to an atheist father and a Christian mother. While on prison term he experienced a personal conversion to the Christian faith. After training at the Theological Institute in Stuttgart, he was appointed church leader at the Free Christian Community of Elim in Bremen in 1955 . In the following years, Klemm became one of the most popular free church preachers in Germany. He taught at the Beröa Bible School until 1971 , founded and directed the Leuchter Verlag and shaped evangelical Christian songs with his songs. He sang in various music groups such as The Sunrise Singers or the Gospel Quartet, which is internationally successful in the Pentecostal Church, and has led several choirs. Today he is considered one of the creative pioneers of Christian media work in post-war Germany.

Gerhard Klemm married Gerda Schiller in 1952. The two had three daughters and one son. Klemm spent an active retirement in Canada, where he hosted the Christian television show 100 Huntley Street , among other things . In 1983 he founded Media Vision, a similar media company in Germany, which one year later was one of the pioneers of German private radio under his moderation with the program A fulfilled life in the cable pilot project in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . The media work of the BfP was one of the founding shareholders of Eureka TV , where Klemm continued the talk show until the end of the station in 1988. He died in 2011.
