The Wybelsum lighthouse is on the street Am neue Seedeich in the Wybelsumer Polder , a polder west of Emden on the north bank of the Unterems . In addition to being a lighthouse, it also serves as a radar tower for the Ems traffic control center , which is responsible for monitoring Ems shipping. The Wybelsum lighthouse was built in the same period as the Knock lighthouse and is remote-controlled by the Ems traffic control center.
The 18 m high, round lighthouse has a red and white paint and carries in 16 m height, a cross light generated by a 60-watt bulb in a belt lens light is generated. The rotating radar antenna is located at its tip. The international beacon number is B1012.
