Leutold I. (Wildon)

Leutold I. ( Liutold I. , Leutold von Wildon , Leuthold ) († April 13, 1249 ) from the noble family of the Lords of Wildon was the Styrian ministerial .

Life

Leutold von Wildon

Leutold was a son of Herrand I von Wildon and Gertrud, Liutold von Gutenberg's heir .

When Duke Friedrich II. Of Austria and Styria was ostracized in 1236, Leutold and his brother Ulrich and the other Styrian state ministers sided with Emperor Friedrich II and in 1237 made allegiance to him in Vienna. When Duke Friedrich regained power in his countries in 1239, we find the Wildon brothers back at his court.

In 1236 Leutold owned the castle and estate of Steyregg as a Passau fief, probably an inheritance from his ancestors from their time with the Traungauers . In 1241 he passed this rule on to his son-in-law Albero V. von Kuenring-Dürnstein , who was then to inherit the upper fortress of Riegersburg in 1249 .

Leutold and his brother Ulrich experienced the extinction of the Babenbergs in 1246 and three years of imperial occupation by Count Meinhard von Görz ; in 1249 he died.
