Lev Blatný (born April 11, 1894 in Brno , † June 21, 1930 in Kvetnica near Poprad ) was a Czech poet , author , theater critic and dramaturge .

Lev Blatný came from a family of musicians from Brno. His brother was the composer Josef Blatný . From 1915 to 1918 Lev Blatný was a soldier in Galicia , Bukovina , Transylvania and Albania . He married Zdenka Klíčníková in 1918. The following year their son, who would later become avant-garde writer Ivan Blatný, was born.

After the war he finished his studies at the Juridikum in Prague and became a civil servant at the Czech Railways in Brno . Shortly thereafter, however, he began his theater work, initially as a dramaturge. He tried to bring significant new works by local and foreign artists to the stage.

As a young person he published poems and short prose , later the theater was his home and he wrote numerous reviews. His first own work was Starry Sky ( Hvězdná obloha ), performed in the Brno theater. This was followed by the play Drei ( Tři ) and the comedy Kokoko-dák , which was his most popular work. He also wrote some expressionist stories. He died of tuberculosis .
