Lev Vladimirovich Shcherba
Lev shcherba ( Russian Лев Владимирович Щерба , scientific. Transliteration Lev Vladimirovič Ščerba * February 20 jul. / 3. March 1880 greg. In Saint Petersburg , † 26 December 1944 in Moscow ) was a Russian-Soviet linguists , which when Slavic made a name.
His university professor Jan Ignacy Niecisław Baudouin de Courtenay suggested that he investigate the influence of one language by another and recommended the Sorbian dialects as objects of investigation. He was referred to the Muskau dialect by Arnošt Muka , whereupon he traveled to Lusatia in the summer of 1907 and moved into accommodation south of Muskau in Weißkeißel . He presented his results with some delay in 1915 in his dissertation entitled "Восточнолужицкое нарѣчіе" ( Vostočnolužickoe narěčīe : "The East Lower Sorbian Dialect"). This was the first time that a Slavic dialect was systematically described.
