Lewis Shay McGugan (born October 25, 1988 in Nottingham ) is an English football player.
Athletic career
Nottingham Forest
Lewis McGugan comes from the Youth Department of Nottingham Forest. In 2006, McGugan signed a professional contract with his home club. He started his career in the 2006/2007 season in the third highest English division, Football League One . Nottingham Forest finished fourth at the end of the season, but could not qualify for the second division in the subsequent play-offs.
In the 2007/2008 season, he became a top performer at Nottingham . Forest finished in second place at the end of the season and thus managed direct promotion to the second highest English division. Thanks to his good performance, Nottingham extended his contract for a further 3 years.
Due to the rise in the previous season, McGugan played in the 2008/09 season for the first time in the Football League Championship . He struggled with injury issues during the season, but in January 2009 he was voted 16th in the selection of the best English players outside the Premier League . His hit count this season was 5 goals in 33 games.
In the 2009/10 season Lewis McGugan played 19 games and scored 3 goals. As third in the table behind Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion , he narrowly missed promotion with his team in the first play-off round against the later promoted Blackpool FC . Also in 2010/11 , McGugan, who started the season well (40 games / 13 goals) reached the play-off semi-finals with his team, but again missed promotion to the Premier League against Swansea City (0-0 and 1-3) .
Watford FC
After the end of the 2012/13 season , McGugan decided against a contract extension in Nottingham and moved to league rivals Watford FC on a free transfer . On November 19, 2014, McGugan moved to Sheffield Wednesday on loan .
Sheffield Wednesday
In July 2015, the second division team Sheffield Wednesday McGugan signed a three-year contract after a successful loan deal.
