The lexicographical institute "Miroslav Krleža" ( Croatian Leksikografski zavod "Miroslav Krleža" ) is the national lexicographical institute of Croatia based in the Croatian capital Zagreb . It is the legal successor to the Yugoslav Lexicographical Institute .
The main objective of this public academic institution is to develop and promote encyclopedia and lexicography , as well as to develop and document the expansion of linguistics . The main focus of the institute's activities is data collection, its processing and review as well as the establishment of lexicographical and encyclopedic standards, language research, preparation of editions and book publishing.
history
The institute was founded in 1950 at the suggestion of the writer Miroslav Krleža in Zagreb. By the end of 1990 the institute moved within Zagreb. Due to a decree of the Croatian government of February 16, 1991 , the institute was reorganized and renamed.
Selected publications
In its history, the institute published various encyclopedias , lexicons , dictionaries , atlases and bibliographies . A total of more than 250 editions have been published so far .
