Croatian Studies

The Croatian Studies is the scientific study of the Croatian language and Croatian literature (also known as "Croatian philology " hereinafter) and, more broadly, the modern cultural studies that deal with the Croatian nation and its history deals.

Croatian Studies is a sub-area of Slavic Studies .

Croatian studies at universities outside of Croatia

Croatian Studies is taught at universities in the following countries: Austria , Hungary , Ukraine , Slovakia , the Czech Republic , Poland , Bulgaria , Romania , India , Canada .

Together with Slovenian , Macedonian and Bulgarian , Bosniak and Serbian , it forms South Slavic Studies , a branch of Slavic Studies.

Some Slavists still regard Croatian as part of the Serbo-Croatian language , although this term is hardly used in the countries concerned due to the different nationalisms .
