The Lhonak Peak is a mountain summit in the eastern main ridge of the Himalayas on the border of Sikkim in India and Tibet in China .
Lhonak Peak has a height of 6710 m and is located in the west of the Chorten-Nyima group . The 6120 m high Lhonak La separates the Lhonak Peak from the southern Kellas Peak ( 6680 m ). The seven-thousander Jongsang Ri rises further south . In the northeast of Lhonak Peak is the Chorten Nyima . The Northern Lhonak Glacier flows on the northeast flank of Lhonak Peak and the Middle Lhonak Glacier on the southeast flank . A tributary glacier of the Lashar Glacier extends on the west side of Lhonak Peak .
Ascent history
Lhonak Peak was first climbed on October 13, 1930 by GB Gourlay and W. Eversden and the Sherpas Nima and Lewa .
On July 19, 1933, Eric Shipton , accompanied by a Sherpa, made the second ascent of Lhonak Peak.
