Li Er (writer)

Li Er (* 1966 ) is a Chinese writer. He won the Mao Dun Literature Prize in 2018 (according to other information in 2019) for his novel Brother Yingwu .

Life

Li He was in Jiyuan in the province of Henan and studied 1983-1987 at the Pedagogical University East China Chinese Language and Literature. He then taught at the Zhengzhou Normal University . His novel Coloratura (German coloratura ) was translated into English in 2002 and into German in 2009. He portrays the Chinese communist and writer Qu Qiubai and uses his example to problematize an individual's search for historical truth in contemporary China. In 2005 he was nominated for the Mao Dun Literature Prize. His novel A Cherry on a Pomegranate Tree (German The pomegranate tree that bears cherries ) was also translated into English and in 2007 into German. In 2018 (according to other information in 2019) Li Er won the Mao Dun Literature Prize for his novel Brother Yingwu .
